Same Bowl, Smaller Carton: Maximizing Freight Efficiency for B2B Food Packaging Importers
For global food packaging distributors and restaurant chains, shipping volume (CBM) often dictates landed profitability as much as raw product cost. When importing bulky paper containers across ocean routes, a substantial part of your shipping budget is spent transporting empty air inside master cartons.
To help our international partners combat volatile ocean freight and high warehouse storage costs, our packaging engineering team has completed a major structural redesign across our full line of Round Kraft Paper Salad Bowls (500ml to 1300ml).
The breakthrough? "Same bowl. Smaller carton."
Here is how refined structural engineering delivers up to 57.7% more units per container—without altering bowl capacity, rim profile, or material strength.
1. The Core Engineering: Smarter Nesting, Zero Operational Compromise
When modifying disposable paper containers, the primary concern for buyers is whether rim alterations will disrupt existing lid inventories or food presentation. Our upgrade was executed under strict adherence to three non-negotiables:
· Top Diameter & Rim Profile Remain Identical: 100% compatible with your existing stock of PP, PET, and PLA matching lids.
· Volumetric Capacity Unchanged: Accurate, certified food capacities (500ml, 750ml, 1000ml, 1100ml, 1300ml).
· Paper Grammage & Barrier Unaltered: Heavyweight 300gsm / 320gsm food-grade kraft paper with premium leak-resistant PE lining.
What Changed? By refining the bottom taper angle and wall stacking tolerances, bowls now nest substantially tighter. A stack of 20 newly designed bowls is noticeably lower in height than the legacy version. As a result, the standard 300-piece count fits into a significantly lower-profile master carton.
2. Side-by-Side Comparison: Carton Volume & Container Loading Gains
| Bowl Size | Material Spec | Pack Size | Legacy Carton | Upgraded Carton | Volume Reduction | Loading Gain (20GP/40HQ) |
| 500 ML | 300gsm + PE | 300 pcs | 46×31×51 cm(0.0730 CBM) | 46×31×32.5 cm(0.0463 CBM) | -36.6% | +57.7% Units(115.2k → 181.6k) |
| 750 ML | 300gsm + PE | 300 pcs | 46×31×42.5 cm(0.0610 CBM) | 46×31×34 cm(0.0485 CBM) | -20.5% | +25.8% Units |
| 1000 ML | 300gsm + PE | 300 pcs | 46×31×44 cm(0.0630 CBM) | 46×31×35 cm(0.0499 CBM) | -20.5% | +26.3% Units |
| 1100 ML | 300gsm + PE | 300 pcs | 56×37.5×48.5 cm(0.1020 CBM) | 56×38×44 cm(0.0936 CBM) | -8.2% | +9.0% Units |
| 1300 ML | 320gsm + PE | 300 pcs | 55×37×57.5 cm(0.1170 CBM) | 56×38×35 cm(0.0745 CBM) | -36.3% | +57.0% Units |
3. Tangible Commercial Advantages for Wholesalers & Brand Owners
· Substantially Lower Freight Allocated Per Unit: Packing up to 57.7% more units into each container directly slashes the landed logistics cost per bowl, maximizing import margins.
· 20% to 36% Warehouse Footprint Savings: Compact cartons maximize pallet stacking height and density, freeing up valuable storage in regional distribution centers.
· ESG & Carbon Footprint Reduction: Fewer container shipments required to transport the same volume directly reduces shipping fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
· Frictionless Operational Transition: Identical lid-snapping feel and serving presentation mean zero re-training for food preparation staff.
4. Upgrade Your Next Order
